Declaration of the Results of Bye-Election

The Election Commission of Bhutan, as required under Section 457 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, is pleased to hereby declare the results of the Bye-Elections for the post of Gewog Tshogde Tshogpas in Phootsena_NgatseChiwog of Gakiling Gewog under Haa Dzongkhag and in Kachhen_Kuchhen Chiwog of Tendruk Gewog under Samtse Dzongkhag with Polls held on 14th of August 2015.

The details of the Candidates who have been successfully elected for the said posts are as follows:

  1. Samtse

    Yok Raj Limbu Tendruk 21216000310 Kachhen_Kuchhen yok Elected
  2. Tshering Lobzang Drukpa bearing CID No. 11210001200 of Phootsena_Ngatse Chiwog of Gakiling Gewog under Haa Dzongkhag was not elected having received 25 “NO” votes and 13 “YES” votes with no postal ballots

The Voter Turnout and Registered Voter information are as follows:

 

  1. Phootsena_Ngatse Demkhong 

    a. Total Registered Voters = 215 

    b. Total Number of Votes Cast = 38 

    (i) EVM = 38(ii) Postal Ballot = 0

    c. Voter Turnout (%) = 17.7 %

     

  2. Kachhen_Kuchhen Demkhonga. Total Registered Voters = 750

    b. Total Number of Votes Cast = 276

    (iii) EVM = 276

    (iv) Postal Ballot = 0

    c. Voter Turnout (%) = 36.8 %

     

  3. Overall Voter Turnout = 32.5 %

It is also being notified that a member elected to fill a casual vacancy shall only serve for the remainder of his/her predecessor’s term of office as per the Section 580 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008.

The general public is hereby informed that the Election Petition Period starts from today, 15th of August 2015 and shall end at 5 P.M. on 28th of August 2015.
