In accordance with the provision enshrined under Section 457 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) hereby declares the result of the Bye-Election to fill the vacant post in the Local Government.
Jigme Dorji, holdingCID No. 11508002903, hailing from Raling village, has been successfully elected as the Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa of Raling Chiwog under Nanong Gewog, Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag, with the poll day held on February 5, 2025.
The overall voter turnout detail is as follows:
Of the 426 registered eligible voters (M= 208 & F= 218), 124 cast their votes on the poll day (EVM: 70 & Postal Ballot: 54) achieving an overall voter turnout of 29.10%.
Details of the result is available on the Election Commission’s web page: www.ecb.bt. It is also hereby being notified that as per Section 580 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the member elected shall only serve for the remainder of his/her predecessor’s term of office.
The public and all stakeholders may note that the Election Petition Period of 10 days for this Bye-Election starts today and ends at 5 p.m. on February 15, 2025.
