In accordance with the provision enshrined under Section 457 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) hereby declares the result of the Bye-Election to fill the vacant post in the Local Government.
Phub Sithup, holdingCID No. 10204001025, hailing from Gangkha_Shel-Yuel Chiwog has been successfully elected as the Gup of Chapchha Gewog under Chhukha Dzongkhag, with the poll day held on March 5, 2025.
The overall voter turnout detail is as follows:
Of the 2715 registered eligible voters (M= 1279 & F= 1436), 1218 cast their votes on the poll day (EVM: 1001 & Postal Ballot: 217) achieving an overall voter turnout of 44.86%.
Details of the result is available on the Election Commission’s web page: www.ecb.bt. It is also hereby being notified that as per Section 580 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the member elected shall only serve for the remainder of his/her predecessor’s term of office.
The public and all stakeholders may note that the Election Petition Period of 10 days for this Bye-Election starts today and ends at 5 p.m. on March 15, 2025.
