The Election Commission of Bhutan under Sections 443 and 447 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2008, hereby notifies the general public that Dawa of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa has been elected as the representative from Chhoekhor_Tang National Assembly Demkhong of Bumthang Dzongkhag at the poll held on 19th November 2020.
The overall voter turnout was 73.90 % with a total of 4596 voters having cast their votes out of the total of 6219 (2904 Male and 3315 Female) registered voters. Of the total votes cast, 3315 votes were cast in person on the Electronic Voting Machines in the 11 polling stations and 1281 votes through postal ballots. The two candidates who contested in the Bye-Election are reminded that they must file the returns of election expenses to the Bumthang Dzongkhag Electoral Office or directly to the Public Election Fund Division in the Election Commission Head Office within thirty days of the declaration of the results i.e. not later than 4PM of 20th December, 2020 in the prescribed Form (Public Election Fund Form No. 9A(GE).
The general public and all stakeholders are advised that the Election Petition Period of 10 working days start from today and shall end at 4 p.m. of 3rd December 2020.
