Notification on Acceptance of Candidature » Election Commission of Bhutan

As required under the Section 231 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2008, the Election Commission of Bhutan is pleased to inform the general public that, as on 11^th of June 2013 a total of 94 Candidates (47 each) from the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) filed their Nomination Papers to contest the General Elections of the Second Parliamentary Elections 2013: National Assembly.

Accordingly, the Election Commission declares the Candidatures of the following 92 Candidates from the DPT and PDP as accepted to contest the General Elections:

However, it is regretted that the nominations of Jigme Tshultim of the DPT and Jigme Drukpa of the PDP, nominees for Radhi_Sagteng and Nanong_Shumar Demkhongs respectively had to be rejected during the Scrutiny on 12^th of June 2013.

In this connection, as neither rebuttal on the two rejections nor withdrawal of any Candidature were received as on 14^th of June 2013, notified as the last date for withdrawal of Candidature, the concerned Parties have been served with Notices to only nominate eligible replacement Candidates for the above mentioned two Demkhongs by 21^st of June 2013, as failing which the Commission will be compelled to conduct Uncontested Elections in these Demkhongs.
