The Election Commission of Bhutan would like to inform the General Public that the Commission has received a complaint from Monggar and another complaint from Trashigang, referring to two telephone calls, wherein it is alleged that threats were being made by the caller/s whose number are displayed as “Unknown” or “Private”.
In this regard, the Election Commission of Bhutan has been able to trace the numbers and the investigation is under process.
The Election Commission of Bhutan would like to inform the general public, Presidents of both the Parties, Party Supporters/workers not to engage in any activities under the cloak of anonymity as an act of threatening or impersonation of an official is a Penal offence under the Laws.
At the same time, the Election Commission of Bhutan reminds all voters that the Secrecy of the vote is your right and you should cast your votes freely in full confidence that its secrecy is assured.
