Press Release on Registration of Bhutan Tendrel Party (BTP) as a Political Party

The Election Commission of Bhutan is pleased to notify the general public that Bhutan Tendrel Party (BTP), which applied for registration on 30th November, 2022 has been formally approved as a registered Political Party of the Kingdom of Bhutan on 9th January 2023.

As per Section 135 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the Party has fulfilled the following key aspects required for registration:

1. Name of the Party

Bhutan Tendrel Party (BTP)

2. Election Symbol

The Election Symbol of Bhutan Tendrel Party (BTP), an Elephant is reserved as depicted below:

3. Party Offices

The Head Office of the Party is located in Thimphu Thromde. The party also has twenty Dzongkhag Offices.

4. Broad-Based Membership

It has broad-based registered members from all 20 Dzongkhags.

5. Tentative Candidates

The party has tentative candidates from 47 constituencies comprising all age groups, with a mix of young, experienced and different educational backgrounds.

6. Party Charter

The Party Charter in Dzongkha and English conforms to the provisions enshrined in Section 136 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008.

The Election Commission, as evidence of having registered Bhutan Tendrel Party (BTP) as a Political Party, shall issue certificate of registration bearing Registration No: ECB/DER/PP23010907 on the 19th Day of the 11th Month of the Water Male Tiger Year corresponding to the 11th January, 2023.
