The Election Commission of Bhutan Meeting with the Dzongkhag Electoral Officers (DZEOs)

The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) conducted a two day meeting with the Dzongkhag Electoral Officers from 31st of August 2015 to 1st of September 2015.

 

 

The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner and attended by the Election Commissioners, Secretary and officials from the Head Office and the 20 Dzongkhag Election Offices.

 

 

The primary purpose of the meeting was to review together the various programmes being undertaken towards the conduct of the Local Government Elections 2016.

 

 

The meeting reviewed the ECB Work Plan 2015-2016, which will be the basis for Department/Division, Dzongkhags and individual Work Plans, the programme for the observation of the National Voter’s Day in the 20 Dzongkhags, the Strategy for the Local Government Elections 2016 and the Voter Education and Awareness Progrmme in the Dzongkhags for the LG Elections 2016.

 

 

The meeting also discussed on the Electoral Roll and issuance of VPIC for the Dzongkhag Thromde Tshogde Tshogpa Demkhongs, streamlining the Requisition for Election Materials, Human Resource related Issues and stepping up of the Biometric Voter Registration in the Dzongkhag Thromdes.

 

 

The meeting specifically, considered a long term strategy as well as immediate priorities, related to Monitoring and Evaluation of ECB activities and the up-coming conduct of Bhutan Children’s Parliament. The DZEOs were also briefed on the changes in the various Rules and Regulations effected earlier in June 2015 by the Election Commission.

 

 

The Dzongkhag officials visited the construction site of the Democracy House after the meeting.
